In this day and age, the question above will still get you a funny look. People wonder what you mean. What I mean is “why isn't your office everywhere?”
It's well known that Google is turning themselves to direct competition with the biggest corporation in the world.. Microsoft. Every day they are releasing new applications that are making people turn their heads.
Why is this making people turn their heads? Because they are on the path to making Microsoft Irrelevant.
First, they are making Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office irrelevant by providing a cross-platform, mobile, interoperable collection of applications.
Most end users want to do very little with their computers:
1. Browse the Internet – Pretty much any computer sold now can do this
2. E-Mail – Get Gmail, lots of space, ane very easy to use.
3. Photo Management – Picasa has proven to be better than the equivalent Microsoft Offerings.
4. Word Processing – Google bought Writely…Now you can take your word processor with you wherever you go, and it works on just about any computer.
5. Spreadsheets – Google just released their Online Spreadsheet for the same portability and compatibility as Writely.
6. Google Music Player – Yep, they have a music player too.
I'll write more later, but lunch is over…. I'm working on some tools of my own, and they will fit right in with the Google collection.
